CILECT, the International association of film and television schools, a cooperation of 130-140 of the best film schools in the world, yesterday announced the winners of their yearly short film competition among students.

In the category of “Fiction”, there were 118 contenders and our schools competitor this year was the graduation short film from Helena Rakel, “Mixed bag”. It is with great joy that we announce that The Icelandic Film School, that is the film “Mixed bag”, landed in at number 17 of 118. This is the second best placement for the school since we started. In 2018 the graduation film “3 men” landed in the 14th place and in 2016 the film “Heaven and earth” landed in the 20th place.

“I never thought I would ever be pleased to place 17th in anything, but considering the competition in Cilect, I believe I can speak for all of us that worked on “Mixed bag” and say that we are incredibly proud and happy with this result and so very thankful to those that helped us make this film.”

“These are certainly joyous news, to see us stand in the front line with the best schools in the world and a confirmation of the great development the school has gone through these last few years.”

The Icelandic Film School sends Helena Rakel our best congratulations on this impressive feat that will certainly be an encouragement to the school and its current students.
