What is your first cinematic memory?

I grew up in a normal country farm where television was of course watched in the evenings. I remember early in my childhood they showed a lot of westerns and cowboy films that are my first cinema experience. There was no television on Thursdays. In my childhood area of Laugar Reykjadal, there was a movie theater and having no television on Thursdays, they were used to show films there. I started young enthusiastically going to the cinema. You have to take into account that the National Television RUV was the only television station in the country until 1986 and other channels did not arrive in my county area until about 1995 when I was 15 years old. The video rentals in nearby towns were well utilized and we enjoyed many movie nights at friends and acquaintances on other farms, That was the cinema life in the country back in the day.

What fascinates you about filmmaking?

To take the idea or story that one has kneaded together and make it vivid. It's fascinating to create events, conversations, scenarios and storyplots into one whole and put it on the big screen.

Why did you choose Acting?

I've somehow always been interested in acting. One had early on imitated the people in the village so it was noticed at home. One of my childhood friends got a VHS recorder and we started making short films and some sketches. Then it dozed off in me until in 2012 when I started working as a supporting actor in shows, films and commercials and then on to acting classes here and there around town. I just ended up going to full-time acting school and not regretting it.

Anything that surprised you?

In itself, it came as no surprise as I had studied and inquired and explored most of what was relevant to my studies. Of course, most of the days were like the acting classes that one attended with recognized people around town, like day-long courses. Certainly, new skills and abilities have been developed to handle larger and more demanding tasks in the field. And of course all learning, in any form, is a form of personal growth to anyone who takes it on.

And what does the future look like?

The future is bright !
