Graduation Spring 2022 - Sigfús Snævar Jónsson, Acting

Sigfús Snævar will be graduating on June 4th from Acting with his film "Stockfish"

In a post-apocalyptic world Högni uses old Icelandic traditions to survive. He has managed to keep himself alive for a long time by only using those techniques. Suddenly there is some change in his life after a 12 year old girl steals fish from him

What is your first memory related to films?

The first movie experience I remember is watching "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" in my grandparents' bed with all my siblings. I remember that we always went to the video rental in Siglufjörður and got to rent two tapes when we went to visit grandma and grandpa. There's just something special that makes me remember watching Harry Potter on a small tube TV in the corner of the room

What fascinates you about film making?

What fascinates me about filmmaking are the stories. I love telling stories and listening to stories. There's something so wonderful about being able to see the stories that people are creating and get involved in them is even better

Why did you choose Acting?

I was not sure if I wanted to go to Screenwriting and Directing or Acting. In the end, Acting was chosen simply because I love acting. It is such fun to get into different roles and do different things

Anything that surprised you?

It surprised me how much I learned from all the departments. After my studies, I also started to understand a bit about what was going on behind the camera and that helped me as an actor. For example, knowing how wide the lens is to know how much movement I can do

And what does the future look like?

I hope the future holds a lot more of exciting and fun projects like the ones I got to know at school
