Elin Palsdottir

Elin Palsdottir is graduating from Screenwriting and Directing with her film “The Paladins”

"Three teenage boys bicycle about the country looking for a stone that contains great magical powers. The journey puts a strain on the friends' relationship, but their hope that the stone could save their dying friend is stronger than anything else."

We got to know a little about Elin's journey in her studies

"I am making the graduation film with Ingibjorg Jenny Johannesdottir. We met at The Film School, but we are both from the same town. In the last two years, we both realized that we had a major event in our lives that connected us, and we decided to write and direct a short film based on that experience, but we both had brothers who were diagnosed with cancer at puberty."

"Filmmaking has always been a big uncertainty for me. But the more I get to know it, the more I fall in love with the idea of being able to create something so small or big. As a whole. As part of something. Creating and moving people, let alone conveying forth important messages. I chose the Screenwriting department because I was always very interested in writing. I wanted to be a writer when I was younger. However, I always found reading rather difficult. Movies have always caught my attention. I put two and two together and then the gears in my brain started to spin. Films need to be made somewhere, and they usually start with a script."

"It surprised me how varied and fun the study was. Every day is different, it keeps you on your toes which helps with both the flow of ideas and the will to create."

Any enjoyable memories?

"There are so many. I have to say that the long and hard nights I have spent at school with wonderful people."

And finally, what does the future hold?

"To continue writing and creating in this wonderful art form."
