Arnar Máni Ianson Gray - Acting

Arnar Máni will graduate from Acting on the 27th of May with his film "First born"

The film is about the boy Ásgeir and his relationship with his sick mother. Their mother/son relationship is unnaturally close and cooperative, but then there is a strain when Ásgeir meets a girl who encourages him to become more independent and stand up for himself.

-What is the first movie experience you remember?

The first movie experience I remember was when I was 3 years old and went with my family to "Piglet's Big Movie" at the cinema.

-Why did you choose Acting?

I never knew what I wanted to be when I was younger. I wanted to try everything but nothing impressed me for long. I chose Acting because now I can literally try to be anything. I have always been very interested in people, and how different people are. How they behave, interests, what issues are important, etc., and it's so interesting to immerse yourself in it and get to be and understand where they're coming from and give a voice to different people.

-Did anything particularly surprise you in the study?

I was surprised how much work goes into each film. I also didn't expect how much fun and how challenging it would be to try all aspects of filmmaking. The interest grew as the course progressed.

-And what does the future look like?

I have nothing planned at the moment. I am thinking of going abroad next spring for more studies.
