The Icelandic Film School

Admissions

// Application

Dear applicant:

Thank you for your interest in applying to the International Program of the Icelandic Film School. Below you'll find an explanation of the admissions process.

New classes are admitted to the school twice per year, in the fall term (beginning late August) and in the spring term (beginning early January).

The application deadline for the spring 2011 term is November 15, 2010, and the deadline for the fall 2011 term is April 15, 2011.

1) The first step is to fill out the application form, which you'll find here on the school's website. You can locate the application form by clicking here. Please provide thorough, detailed answers to all required questions.

2) All applications will be reviewed by a committee appointed by the relevant department. These committees consist of department heads and industry professionals in the relevant field of the department. An initial selection will be made based on each applicant's potential and the applicants that survive this cut will be called for an interview. All applicants will be notified whether they have passed the first cut or not.

3) Remaining applicants for the following departments -- Directing and Producing, Creative Technical, and Screenwriting and Directing -- will be scheduled for interviews via Skype video conference during the last week of November (for the spring 2011 term) or the last week of April (for fall 2011). Remaining applicants for the Acting Department will be asked to send in an audition tape (details of which to come).

4) The final results of the admissions committees will be made available at the end of November (for spring 2011) and the of April (for fall 2011).
